Get out!

January 23, 2010

From 1990 until 2006 I had very good health insurance. Dental, vision, and hospitalization. I took it for granted. I’m self employed (if you can call it that) and haven’t had insurance since early 2006. Last year I had an allergic reaction to something and ended up in the hospital. Today, my little cold has developed into some nasty stuff. I wrote yesterday (actually about 13 hrs ago) about my symptoms. Today I can add to the list fever, and the dry cough has turned wet. I’m coughing…ah…i’ll say “out”, dark mucus. Everything I have here is to treat the symptoms, not the cause. So, with no health insurance, I’m taking Tylenol, and some serious “Night, Night” cough medicine, a lot of fluids, vitamins, and Emergen-C.

Not the Flu

January 23, 2010

It started with a tickle in the back of my throat. Day two I had a sore throat, runny nose and congestion. Day three I had a sore throat, runny nose, congestion and severe sinus pressure. Day four? Yeah, add a dry hacking cough.

I’m scared of what day five might bring.

Help Haiti

January 17, 2010

Unless you’ve been completely out of touch with the rest of the world, you know that the people of Haiti have been devastated by a massive earthquake. If you have a cell phone you need to text message “HAITI” to 90999 and make a $10 donation to support the American Red Cross Haiti Relief efforts. The $10 is added to your phone bill.

These people have nothing. No food, no water, none of the daily supplies that we take for granted.

It’s $10 dollars people.

From my iphone

January 16, 2010

2nd day with the new blog. I was curious to try the WordPress app for the iPhone. I’m hoping to be able to blog from wherever I am. Well, let’s give it a try.

This is the house across the street. They have been using a backhoe since 7 am.

Great Falls MD

January 15, 2010

I’m very close to my parents both in emotion and location.  I see them often. Once a year I try to get together with my dad to go some place local where we can take some interesting pictures. This week we went to Great Falls on the Maryland side of the Potomac River.

Hey world!

January 15, 2010

I’ve wanted to do this for many years, but I’m not completely sure why. I think part of me is curious to see if I can write, and part of me wants a place to express the joys and frustrations of everyday life. Yesterday was my birthday , so today I decided to just do it.
